Game Rules

* Posting requirements: Because each character will have a combination of journals, notice board posts, and threads, the activity checks will be quite subjective. You may thread a lot but rarely use the board or the diary, or vice versa. Every character should post in their journal, or a thread, or something on the noticeboard, every couple of weeks, but we're unlikely to chase you unless you're absent completely. We think it is more important to respond to things other people have posted. So, even if you're busy, try and get online every week. Otherwise you will just lose touch with what is going on and other players may feel they are kind of posting into the ether. If someone comments on one of your posts or threads, try to reply to it within a couple of days. It keeps everything running smoothly. The special case is doctors - doctors have to interact with each of their patients at least once a month, because patients need them! A thread is ideal, but notices or notes are fine too. We won't beat you with a mod-stick for an occasional slip-up, but if it is felt your activity is consistently unreliable, we will warn you, and if you do it again you may have to leave us.

* All journals are private and are used for therapeutic value. You can show it to your doctor in your sessions, or not. People can comment on it or scribble on it if you leave it lying around, so be sure to specify where your character left it e.g. open in the common room (anyone can write in it), or hidden under the pillow (private)

* Hiatus - Hiatuses are fine, but please notify everyone in the ooc board, and be sure to reply to mod emails or we get cranky. And you won't like us when we're cranky :-P If you haven't given a hiatus notice and you don't reply to a mod email within a week, you'll just be removed. We can't be bothered to chase you. It's a game, yo. So make sure we have your up-to-date email address.

* On illness and treatment: this is pretty much the only thing we're going to be really picky about. If you play a patient, make sure you're doing a realistic portrayal of the disorder(s) your character has. If you play a doctor, make sure their methods are realistic too. We know most of you won't be psychiatrists and er... some of you won't be mentally ill, so we're not going to be stupid about it, but give it your best shot.

* Do your bio how you want. We don't care. Don't even put it up if you don't want to. Just remember it will be easier for people to plot with you if you do! If you want a fancy nancy one, go to [info]rp_tutorials.

* Striking out: strike-outs are partly readable to characters, bolded strike-outs are readable to players only. To characters they will show up as blotches or scribbles.

* Threads should be behind a cut, with the following information outside the cut, though not necessarily in that exact format.
Who: [characters]
Where:
When:
What: [one-line summary]
Rating: [Warn whether this rating is for language, sex, violence or other]

* On icons: 100x100, black and white or colour are fine. Please try and remember to change your icons to reflect the emotions, facial expression or body language of your character at that time. We know sometimes you forget, and that you can't from iPhones, but generally speaking, there should be a different icons for each post of comment, and it should be relevant e.g. if your character is arguing, the icon should not be of them dancing (and yes, this is something I have suffered through personally).

* On spoilers: we appreciate how upsetting spoilers can be, but they're kind of inevitable in this game to a degree. Sorry dudes. It's up to you how spoilery your bios are or whether you try not to interact with characters from books you're still reading etc. Just be honest about it, whichever way it goes e.g. let people know you're not ignoring them because you hate them, but because you haven't finished watching the last season

* The mod: is Alison. Hi. I'm happy to discuss things with you and will initiate concerns in a dialogue, not a smackdown. But there will always be a bottom line somewhere, and it's mine. Deal with it, bitches :-P
