There is a hospital which treats the deluded, the mentally ill and the psychologically disturbed. The inhabitants believe some quite fantastical things - that they are time-travellers, or visitors to magical worlds, or aliens, or mythical creatures, or superheroes.

It is an illness. Their world is as ordinary as ours. The time is now. The place is America (New England, to be more specific). The only difference between the game world and ours is that in their world, the stories from which these characters are derived do not exist.

The hospital was officially named Nest Hill Hospital, but it was quickly informally dubbed "Cuckoo's Nest" because of its clientele. The facilities are good, the staff exceptional (if a little unorthodox sometimes), and best of all, the hospital is free, sponsored by wealthy benefactors. For many, it is the last hope to cure their loved ones. Except, they don't tend to want to be cured...
